What to Look for in a Dental Automation Partner

Key criteria for choosing an automation partner that understands dental practice operations.
Not all automation is created equal, and the wrong partner can cost you more time and money than doing nothing. Here's what Australian dental practices should evaluate before committing to an automation provider.
1. Dental-specific experience. Generic automation agencies build generic solutions. Your practice has unique workflows, PMS integration, AHPRA compliance, CDBS billing, that require domain knowledge.
2. PMS integration capability. If the automation doesn't connect with your practice management software (D4W, Exact, etc.), it creates more work, not less.
3. Fixed-scope pricing. Avoid open-ended retainers. A good partner defines the scope, delivers on it, and charges a predictable monthly fee.
4. Ongoing maintenance included. Automation isn't set-and-forget. Systems need monitoring, updates, and optimisation. Make sure maintenance is part of the package.
5. Transparent about limitations. If a provider promises 100% automation with zero human oversight, be cautious. The best systems are designed with appropriate human checkpoints.
